Evaluation: Corporate Video Production

1    We were tasked to create the “Why Choose EN?” video. The video had to be no longer then 90 seconds (1 minute 30 seconds) and we had to showcase the whole college and everything about it to show new students why they should come to learn at East Norfolk (the courses, the facilities, the support, and care), like a teaser trailer for the college. We were given this task by Jon Dack who is the Admissions, Marketing, and Engagement Manager of East Norfolk.

2.  We weren’t given any specific/allocated roles as me and my partner just worked on it together cooperatively, but we both had to do research and pre-production together before we could start to film. But when we did start filming, My partner was focused on the filming/using the camera and I was using the sound & recording equipment.

3.  In the video, we had to showcase every/as many features about East Norfolk that make a student want to study there. We had to try to show off everything equally from the classrooms and courses the college offers, the facilities that can be found on campus (canteen, the hive, etc.) student support, and others. We also had to try including students in it and get their opinions and why they chose East Norfolk to try to help convince new students to come here. We also had to try to keep our video 90 seconds long which is a challenge for me and my partner when we’re tasked to show everything in the college but with such little amount of time.

4.  My favourite part about this task was getting to work with partners as we also got to have the choice to work with who we wanted, therefore, we could work together more comfortably and be more interactive and get the task done cooperatively.

5. The most challenging aspect of this task was trying to get everything about East Norfolk into our very limited 90 seconds short video. There is too much the college has to offer that it’s very challenging to try to show a good amount for students to be interested in the college. Another challenging aspect of this task was trying to film during the pandemic as students are wearing masks and following the pandemic rules and our video had to be mask free so it doesn’t seem dated, it also didn’t help that it was Christmas during the time we were filming so the college was full of Christmas decorations and Christmas trees so that made it harder. 

 6. I feel like whilst making this project I learnt how challenging it is to have to make a video for someone with a specific deadline and brief and I learnt that working on these projects are a little easier in slightly larger groups rather than in pairs.

 7. If I was to do this task again, I would choose an easier video to work on so there are fewer things we have to cover in the video making it less challenging.
